Dr Robert Ryan is a successful scientist recognized for his
contributions in the field of biology. Through his experiments and
investigations, Dr Ryan has helped make advancements in anti-bacterial
research.
Throughout his long academic career, Dr Ryan has made science his
focus. Dr Ryan first graduated with several undergraduate degrees including a
B.Sc. in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the Institute of Technology, Carlow. His postgraduate studies include an MSc in
Bioinformatics and Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Microbial Genetics. Following
the completion of his doctorate degree in 2004, Dr Ryan continued his career in
academics. He held several important positions as a researcher at different
universities. Some positions were at prominent universities such as the
University of Oxford in the UK and Dartmouth Medical School in the US.
Throughout his time as a researcher, he regularly published papers in
scientific journals, supervised fellow researchers and students, conducted and

Dr Robert Ryan’s
distinguished career has been marked by the honour of winning several awards.
The most recent awards include the Young Ambassador award, the Lister Prize
Research Fellowship award in the UK in 2014, and the Royal Society of Edinburgh
Patrick Neill Medal, also in the UK in 2014.
As an academic
leader and researcher, Dr Ryan has been a keynote speaker at more than 100
seminars both in the UK and internationally. Dr Ryan plays an important role in
the scientific community as a member of many different societies and editorial
boards in the field.
Dr Ryan also makes time for the other passions in his life which
include reading, practising photography, watching films and studying astronomy.
Keeping active is important for Dr Ryan, so he carves out time for hiking,
cycling, swimming and playing football too. When it’s game time, Dr Ryan roots for
Chelsea.
